Women and Stress

Stress is not easy for everyone to detect. It can sneak into our lives quietly and often not be noticed. And there many different degrees of stress which also makes it hard to detect. There are many different types of things that can cause us stress. I will list a number of ways I can think of and have had.

Jobs:
Co-Workers
Management
Customers
Work Schedules
Meeting deadlines

Home Life:
Spouses
Small Children
Teenagers
Appliances breaking
Illness of others
Time
Every ones schedule

Life:
Death of parents
Illness
Care Taking
Confrontations

When we are anxious or worried about any one of these things it can cause stress which triggers changes in our bodies and our diets, which can cause illness. It can also make any ailment that we may have worsen. Here are some of the ways that stress can effect us physically.

Migraine or headache
Depression
Ulcers or other stomach problems
Weight gain
Weight loss
Heart problems
Take up bad habits ( drinking alcohol or smoking)

To combat these problems we need to listen to our bodies and what is happening when something triggers stress.
Here are some ways to help yourself when stress occurs.

TAKE SOME TIME FOR YOURSELF. Take a relaxing bath, a walk, listen to some relaxing music or do one of your favorite things to do. For me is to work in my yard.

SLEEP. Be sure to get enough sleep. It helps to keep your room cool and dark. Use enough covers to insure you will be warm.

RELAX. Take twelve deep breathes. Prayer is very helpful, and also exercise with stretching or yoga. Listening to relaxing and favorite music.

EAT WHOLESOME FOOD. Don't snack. Eat a well rounded wholesome stress nutrition meal. It is best to stay away from coffee or sweets.

USE SUPPLEMENTS FOR STRESS. Adaptogen is very good for stress. I also think B 12 is very good.

TALK WITH A FRIEND. Choose a friend that will listen and not give advice. You usually don't need to be told what they would do, but just use them as a sounding board.

EXERCISE. Use your favorite means of exercise, whether it is walking, riding a bike or swimming or what ever is your favorite exercise. Mowing the lawn or shoveling snow works well too.

It is very important to keep in touch with your body and recognize when you are stressed. Many illnesses are caused from stress. I have heard that 95% of all illnesses are caused from or stress related. Take care of yourself because you are a very important person to yourself and your family.
